About wombatwombat

wombatwombat is a non-profit making organisation run by volunteers. It was established in December 2000 to fill a gap in the local indie music scene, initially hosting gigs twice a month. Norwich has since become a veritable hot bed of awesome entertainment so we now normally promote once every other month at Norwich Arts Centre, St Benedicts Street, Norwich, NR2 4PG.

We also get involved in other music-related projects, eg wombatwombat's Waterloo Park walkabout – our (almost) annual mid-summer outdoor mini-all-dayer, weather permitting; Norwich Sound & Vision; BBC Music Video Festival. We're also very pleased to enjoy the support of Archant's event guides, BBC Introducing in Norfolk, Future Radio, Outline, plus that of other like-minded Norwich-based promoters, including Gravy, Pony UP and The Tilting Sky.

We've been honoured to host the debut Norwich gigs for these out-of-county/country acts, among others: El Hombre Trajeado; Sputniks Down; eeebleee; Snowpony; Fonda 500; Meanwhile, Back In Communist Russia...; Lapsus Linguae; Kinesis; Melys; Jetplane Landing; 65daysofstatic; Swearing At Motorists; The National; Jesse Malin; Puerto Muerto; Camera Obscura; Misty's Big Adventure; Bikini Atoll; Piney Gir; Neils Children; We vs Death; Hood; Mika Bomb; Blues Brother Castro; The Subways; Battle; Ex Models; The Suicidal Birds; The Shortwave Set; Mimas; Children Collide; Blood Red Shoes; Joe Gideon & The Shark; Underground Railroad; John & Jehn; Emma Pollock; The Workhouse; Wintermute; The Joy Formidable; Enon; Dyko, featuring Wolfgang Flür, ex-Kraftwerk; Kids Love Lies; Labasheeda; The Moi Non Plus; Bonne Aparte; Popular Workshop; Prego; Maths Class; Pulled Apart By Horses; kontakte; Male Bonding; Blue On Blue; Gallops; Talons; Bravestation; Yeti Lane; Among Brothers; We Cut Corners, WE//ARE//ANIMAL, Negative Pegasus, LOOM, DOE; who's next?

Demos

wombatwombat welcomes demos but please be aware:

  • we primarily promote guitar-based indie music… but never say never
  • we usually book at least 6 months in advance… but sometimes slots become available
  • there are a limited number of support slots… but we can give you contact details of other promoters who may be able to help
  • unfortunately, we can't provide any feedback on your demo… but will contact you if there are any suitable opportunities.

Sorry if this causes any frustration.

We reckon a good demo is up-to-date and truly representative of your band's current style. Please remember to include a brief band biog and let us have your contact details, ie email and web addresses, plus phone number, thanks.

Post old school CD/DVD/mini-disc/tape demos to wombatwombat, PO Box 24, Norwich, NR2 2WA; unfortunately, these can't be returned.
