BROTHERS play wombatwombat's 10th birthday and Christmas party on Friday 10 December 2010 @ NAC

For anyone that missed your debut gig in September, how are BROTHERS going to thrill the pants off 'em tonight?

Well we're all top-notch musicians, masters of the craft. So you know, we don't really have to try very hard to thrill people, it just comes naturally. Failing this, at least half of us would be more than happy to strip a little to thrill y'all in other ways.

Your sound is massive instrumental hooks with instantly shout-a-long, joyously nutty, lyrics, eg "You've got a knife and I've got an animal", please share your inspirations and approach to songwriting...

From the start we decided that BROTHERS would be a completely collaborative band, and more experimental in the songwriting, so each song has happened differently. We all have massive creative respect for each other, and decided to form the band because of that. So there is no 'lead person'. The ideas usually come when we're just talking. The songs aren't really about much, just a string of phrases that we think give off the right feelings. Except Horses, which is about a programme about cats that only Sophie has seen.

Despite its cries of "bitch" and "bleach down the surfaces for eating", myspace reckons that Horses is similar to Because of You by Kelly Clarkson: what's your response?

Sorry, we can't comment on that due to an ongoing lawsuit with Ms Clarkson. But Kelly: you're welcome.

What would each of you like to find in your Christmas stocking?

Maxie: Eva Mendes.
Stevie: a teddy of Rex from Toy Story, an iPhone 4 and an external hard drive and printer for my laptop.
Sophie: Rollerskates and rum.
Rosie: Some sort of miniature horse. Or a breathing-restriction helmet.
Ellie: Approval.

What are BROTHERS' plans for 2011, given your commitments to Fever Fever and The Brownies?

We'll play some gigs when we can, and when we really want to, and a release would be nice, right?

Who ain't heavy, who's your brother, sisters?

Stevie: bass/shouts.
Ellie: guitar/screams.
Maxie: guitar/squeals.
Sophie: drums/roars.
Rosie: drums/howls.

Hear these BROTHERS doing their grrrlypop/grrrlywhore thing here
