Don't miss this launch gig for collider's second single, Treehouse! Online tickets from the button at the bottom of this linked page.

collider play wombatwombat on Friday 22 June 2012 @ NAC

So tonight's the launch gig for Treehouse, please sow some seeds about your latest release…

Treehouse is our second proper single, following Snakes with Wings which was released on split 7" by Ziggurat Creative last September. Ziggurat are putting out Treehouse for us too so it's really nice that they have that much faith in us!

… and tell us how your sound has developed since you started in 2009.

When we started we were originally a four-piece with an extra guitarist. After he left we started to include more computer stuff, which became much easier when I built the shiny metal box (arduinome) that now controls all of the electronic material. Our sound has benefited greatly from it and I think we're much more interesting sonically as we've moved away from being a purely guitar-based band.

When can we expect your debut album?

Hopefully in the spring [2013], but I need to pull my finger out and get the last two songs finished off ready for recording!

Which local, national and international bands do you have an affinity with and why?

There's loads of great local bands at the moment so it's tricky to pick one out, but The Neutrinos are pretty inspirational and their recent show at Westlegate House was fantastic. BK and Dad is another band doing really innovative and impressive things at the moment too.

Nationally I think iLiKETRAiNS have been a great source of inspiration for us and it was amazing to play with them at the Arts Centre last year. Internationally, I think we'd again have to go for a band we've been lucky enough to play with, Mimas. But there's so much music that we listen to and creeps into the way we are as a band that I could give you a list a mile long!

What else would you like to share with us?

This recipe for orange and tarragon chicken.
