![]() The Day The Robots Came play wombatwombat on Friday 17 June 2011 @ NACThis will be your debut gig: what can we expect from the Robots' first visit to NAC? Loud, awesome, predominantly instrumental rock music. This will be the Robots' first visit anywhere outside the rehearsal space, so it will be a big, probably nerve shredding, release for all of us. As with any debut gig, things may be a little rough around the edges, but that's what makes the music we all love great; raw, blistering energy. Expect lots of that. Maybe even a few surprises too... Something of a local super-group – featuring Ndx, plus members of collider and Olympians – please describe the sound of TDTRC and tell us why it's more than just a mash-up of those other bands... Those three bands all have very distinctive styles. None of us want the band to sound exactly like the other bands, we want something new, fresh, bigger, even more exciting. We've taken the best parts of all three, stripped them off, clad them in metal and organics, plugged them in and let them loose. ...and what the music of TDTRC says about life. That it doesn't have to be boring, middle of the road, heard-it-all-before stuff. It can be new, exciting, big... Huge even, filled with glorious colours and feelings as well as the dark, horrible, soul crushing moments which you want to forget or push to the back of your mind... You just use those negative things to make the good stuff even better. And that robots will rule us all. On the day. They come... Which national/international bands do you have an affinity with and why? There are a few bands emerging lately of a style we like: And So I Watch You From Afar, Talons, Jeniferever, iLiKETRAiNS, Tall Ships, Three Trapped Tigers... Bands that take the best parts of songs and push them all together to make great things. Sometimes lo-fi, sometimes massively technical, but always fantastic. Bands like Sigur Ros, Godspeed, the more established bands of that sort... They will always be an influence, but more so in spirit than in sound. We all have separate bands we love individually, so maybe try to bring the best things of them to be part of us as well... Social media snapshot Which social media do you use and how do you rate them in terms of the best way to promote your band, with 1 being the best?
Who are these Robots?
Jez: guitars and others.
