Digging deeper
Norwich is hotting up. Even more. Cultural events are being crammed into every conceivable venue – from medieval to thoroughly modern spaces – and on a daily basis. Highlights to look forward to include:
And wombatwombat's next special day is fast approaching: Friday 11 June at Norwich Arts Centre. We're talking buzz bands. Those that fully embrace DIY culture by getting up, getting out there and, quite literally, creating a scene. Sub Pop – a label that rarely works with non-US acts – digs Male Bonding so much it releases the Dalston trio's debut album, Nothing Hurts on Monday 10 May; artrocker.com reckons it's the album of the year, so far. PENS enjoy a reputation for making their audience reconsider its perception of engaging entertainment, which makes these grrrls cute, in both senses. It'll be Hunt In Packs' second gig, having made their debut helping launch NR ONE's Eastzone Underground label at NAC on Friday 8 May and, as they've already got a full set of songs that's soon to be a Planet Beet radio session on breakthruradio.com, we know they're also ones to watch. |
