John Osborne co-comperes wombatwombat's 11th birthday and Christmas party on Friday 16 December 2011 @ NAC

What will you bring to wombatwombat's party as co-compere with Tim Clare?

Party poppers.

What's your personal performance highlight of 2011…

There's been a few. I'm one of four poets who run Norwich Poetry Club and it was exciting to get John Hegley along to perform. I'm lucky enough to be able to do lots of festivals too, so Glastonbury, Latitude and Bestival were all fun too.

…And what can you tell us about your next show?

The show I'm about to tour in 2012 is called John Peel's Shed. It's about a box of records I won in a competition on John Peel's Radio 1 show in 2002 – a box of his records. I play some of the records on stage and talk about John Peel and my love of radio.

Which other local/national/international spoken word acts put on a jolly good show that everybody should try to catch?

My fellow compere Tim Clare is always good to watch. So locally I would say Molly Naylor and Tim Clare. Nationally Tim Key is one of the best, and I really like Brigitte Aphrodite who performs songs and stories that are pretty special.

What's your opinion of the local music scene?

One of the things I was really excited about when I first moved to Norwich ten years ago was the Norwich music scene. I'd heard bands like Bearsuit on Radio 1 and was really excited watching them in my first year of uni. I really like doing gigs at the Birdcage too, I've seen some really talented singers and bands there as well as stand ups and poets. I've seen some bad ones too though.
